15 minutes with Shay: Nextipedia, our full day symposium

By ,

Last month we spoke with Shay about what the key market drivers are for Ireland’s growing economy, and how that has led to BT’s success in Ireland. He also shared how BT is planning to grow in the future and what people should expect in the coming year. This month Shay talks about Nextipedia, BT’s new symposium at this year’s Young Scientist Exhibition, and what’s in store for our corporate customers.

What is Nextipedia?

Nextipedia is our big splash for our corporate customers at the RDS on Wednesday 8th January where we’re bringing together the world’s leading IT minds, tech experts, and scientists to kick start the New Year with inspiring stories and valuable insights. We’re always trying to get our customers involved in the Young Scientist Exhibition and the best way to do that is to organise a corporate event at the RDS alongside the BTYSTE where our customers can network with industry peers as well as the young generation of scientists. There are many things on the go during the week. It’s our 20th year hosting the BT Young Scientist so we wanted to make it as big as possible. We have our Future Human event as well, large customer events which is this year’s Nextipedia with Brian Cox attending. We’re delighted to have such a fantastic event with some incredible speakers which is free to attend and we welcome all customers. You look at the quality of speakers that we have and what they bring with their vast amount of knowledge.

Professor Brian Cox was awarded an OBE for his services to Science in 2010

Who will be speaking at the event?

We have Professor Brian Cox (OBE) renowned scientist and Professor of Particle Physics the School of Physics and Astronomy, at the University of Manchester speaking at the event who will deliver an inspirational keynote on our place in the galaxy. We’re delighted to have Conor McGann AI entrepreneur who will be speaking about how IoT sensors, AI and machine learning are making sustainable indoor farming an exciting new reality. We have Mike Stenson, Head of Innovation at Kingspan, explaining how they plan to recycle a billion plastic bottles per year by 2025. Norman Crowley, CEO of Crowley Carbon will also be talking about carbon neutrality and electric super cars. And Gabrielle Giner, Director of Environmental Sustainability at BT, will tell us about some of the amazing stories and plans behind helping the government achieve its sustainability goals by becoming net zero by 2045. And of course we have the great Liz Bonnin the master of ceremonies hosting the event. It would be great to see some of our valued friends and customers attend the event and see some of these amazing minds in action.

Places are limited for this exclusive event, you can register here.

Tune in next month for the another instalment of ‘15 minutes with Shay’ where he’ll share more about the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition, how it started and why it is such an important event to BT and the young minds of today.
