Managed Internet Protocol Telephony

We offer unique convergence propositions through a fully hosted IP Telephony service. This service allows voice, video and data to be carried over a Quality of Service (QoS) enabled IP WAN, such as MPLS.


The purpose built IPT platform is managed and maintained within BT’s core IP network, leaving you to manage your core business. The connectivity to BT’s IPT Platform means that customers can migrate all communications to a single network - as internal and external - outbound and inbound voice communications are all transported via the WAN.


Customers have a choice of service options including MM VoIP, VoIP Port or IP Voice.

Option 1 :

Multimedia VoIP is a leading edge hosted IP Telephony and multimedia service. It provides voice, multimedia and collaborative working applications to customers who want to further the capabilities of their IP infrastructure - without the capital investment of an IP PBX.


The product has been designed for use with BT WAN services that can support Class of Service [COS]. MMVoIP can also be integrated with existing FeatureNet and Embark networks, providing an evolution path for customers that have legacy voice capabilities.


The service provides PSTN access from a centralised gateway in the core network - so customers can use MMVoIP for all internal and external telephony communications without the requirement for separate external voice infrastructure.

Option 2 :

VoIP Port is a PBX connectivity product. VoIP Port will enable BT’s WAN customers to connect their enterprise PBX’s - both IP and TDM, via their data infrastructure to BT’s IPT platform which is managed and maintained within BT’s core IP network. The connectivity to BT’s IPT Platform means that customers can migrate all communications to a single network - as internal and external - outbound and inbound voice communications are all transported via the WAN.


VoIP Port is most suitable for customers who have or are planning to deploy a BT WAN that can support Class of service.

Option 3 :

IP Voice service offers a simple global “managed voice over IP” solution. It combines the flexible any-to-any communication offered exclusively with the BT MPLS VPN service, with a set of managed voice Gateway routers located at your premises, to offer a Private Voice network. The service offers simple dialling rules and the ability to support off net calls in to the PSTN.


There are 2 additional IP voice offerings for BT MPLS customers


Class of Service 1 over BT MPLS with PSTN Breakout.


The PSTN breakout can be provided via BT Voice Port for international destinations and BT Select for local and national calls destinations where available. Calls would flow across the BT MPLS Class of Service 1 Network for On Net traffic between sites and for Off Net locations breakout at a central hub site via PSTN Voice Port.


BT Voice Port, part of the BT Business Voice Portfolio, is a fully managed, end-to-end, global calling solution with a flat rate pricing structure that reduces customers’ telecommunications costs and simplifies their administration, billing and cost management functions. A high quality circuit-switched Voice service with key virtual private network (VPN) functionality and extensive global coverage, VoicePort is managed and monitored to ensure high standards of quality and performance.


BT IP Voice.


This is a packaged IP Voice offering on BT MPLS. It differs from option 1 in that it provides intelligence in the network for BT managing the dial plan, providing call signalling and the off net PSTN breakout is provided within the BT MPLS Network.
